Design Tip # 2 Consider Use and Shape

The most important factor to consider when designing a pool is its intended use. The shape and dimensions will vary based on whether you plan to use it mainly for swimming laps, playing water sports or simply floating around. Lap pools should be longer and more rectangular in shape, while those designed primarily for water sports will likely need to be wider to accommodate movement. If you simply plan to use your pool to cool off during the hot summer months, you can get creative with the shape. Traditional Grecian or Roman pools are classically styled, but lagoon-shaped pools, which offer many different nooks and crannies, can be a lot of fun as well. Choose a shape that appeals to you aesthetically and that fits within your budget
